As you all true games now 4 GB memory limit is really a problem for gaming. Not only to load all textures, maps etc but also for hardware reasons. Ofcourse we all have a dual 512 MB graphics card with piggy backed texture mapper but this leads to a lot of address space which is used by the hardware. Adding 4 GB of real memory to a gaming machine means we will be able to use less than 3 GB of that memory 64 bit changes all that also. Most of the currently available 64 bit applications are games. The gaming communinity might be able to push 64 bit on the desktop.

thats one of the things i am thinking of doing when i upgrade to a quad core 3.1 ghtz getting a MB that will supports SLI mode and two good graphics cards. though i am going to make sure that it is still going to support the 8gb of ram that i have. though i might look for one that supports more. you can never have too much ram.

I am using a gtx280 and have everything on the highest setting. I also accomplished this with Two 8800GT's. Your card is a scaled down version of the 8800GT so I suspect that's the major problem.

I have crysis. though not the newest one. i bought the original. it works very well with the setup that i am running which is stated below.

Vista Home premium
amd Athlon dual core 3.10 ghtz
8 gig ram
Nvidia 9600gt 512 system dedicated somewhere around 2 extra gigs to graphics. though running it on high (literally every single setting possible.) still makes the game super laggy and unplayable.

currently i am testing the SIM3 and so far that creates no issues.

any suggestions for getting crysis to run on high would be much appreciated.

Probably not yet. Although Crysis would be the game to take advantage of it I would think.

I have two identical boxes....one with Vista 32-bit/XP (Dual-boot) and another with Vista 64-bit.

eVGA NF590 SLI
AMD X2 5600
Corsair XMS 4GB (2x2GB) 4-4-4-12
eVGA GT8800 512MB Overclocked to 650Mhz
Samsung 500GB SATA-2 drive

(Obviously the 32-bit OS's are seeing 3172MB-512MB RAM, while 64-bit is seeing the full 4GB)

Crysis, latest version. Latest NVidia drivers.
Everything "High" 1024x768, running GPU benchmark. The value below was the highest of the 3 runs.

XP: 39.3 FPS
Vista 32-bit: 37.1 FPS
Vista 64-bit: 31.8 FPS

I almost always play Crysis on Vista 32-bit. I play everything High, Textures and Objects "Very High" at 1440x900 and get a very playable 24FPS. Very happy with it.

When do you expect games to be able to use the 64 bit version?
