Posted - 05/26/2010 : 12:41:11 PM A Vista laptop (not mine; I am proud to never have owned a physical Vista machine ) hibernated with a virus running in memory. I can find and clean the infection using Linux-based antivirus but of course, as soon as I start up Windows the infection is back there. This is the state I received the machine in.
Is it safe to just delete the hiberfil.sys from Linux? Will Windows boot fresh then?
TIA |

Cool, glad it is fixed, would this have worked?
I think so but I didn't want to actually let Windows start. |
