Hello again--

I have another question, this one about backing up SQL databases. In the past, we have not wanted to pay for the Backup Exec SQL agent. So when it came to backing up our SQL databases, we have always had SQL jobs that back up the SQL data to a file, multiple times per day. Then those files were written to tape each night.

Now, with DPM backing up our SQL databases, is it safe to stop those "manual" SQL backup jobs?

Thanks!

Rob

If you are using DPM to do SQL-based backups, you should stop the SQL backup jobs. In fact, if your SQL backup jobs are doing transaction log backups, this will break the DPM backups.
