Posted - 05/08/2007 : 10:23:51 PM Are there any classes out there to become certified as a SOX auditor? I was thinking that it might be smart to get this certification (if there is such a thing). I've looked before but haven't found any classes or tests to take. I would think CompTIA would jump on this bandwagon. |

Posted - 09/06/2007 : 2:20:02 PM If your young free & single what better way to see the country or perhaps even the world... IT Auditors do have a tough job & yes in most cases you do have to be a road warrior at best but it can also be a very fulfilling job should you land the right job. The pay rate for auditors isn't half bad either... Also its a great way to see many environments & perhaps prepare you for a bright future in Security if you feel the urge!
Planzone i do understand what you are saying though... the road is not for everyone and the person you spoke to is perhaps one of those people (that is just a guess at best) but Lisa if you feel that being an auditor is for you... Go for it & good luck. |

Posted - 09/05/2007 : 12:54:17 PM Hello lisa, I hope you do not take this too harsh (or folks that are auditors) . But why in the world would you want to be an I.T auditor? Reason I am asking is that there is a lot of travel involved and you are generating report after report, is it that rewarding? Sorry for the folks that are auditors.
It crosse dmy mind one. After speaking with an I.T auditor he told me "ohh man you do not want to do this". Perhaps that just based on one review. But i am just curious |

Posted - 05/09/2007 : 08:29:13 AM Hi Lisa I would agree with Jim but there is a common Cert that the auditors within my firm must obtain within 1 year of being posed to the position and that is he CISA certification offered by ISACA. It is not specific to Sarbanes Oxley but it is (from what i know) the most comprehensive audit related certification out today.

I'm not aware of any. Where I work, the people doing "SOx" on the IT side have project management and business process backgrounds, or at least experience managing large-scale, ongoing projects, which is probably more important. There is a part of SOx that the accountants have to be involved in, so there may be some sort of training for bean-counters, as they have to audit the controls, once the tests have been run, but I'm not part of that world, at least not at this point.
