Can anyone report success or help me find drivers for this motherboard. The error message I'm getting when I try to is:
"does not support this operating system: WNT_6.1i_64"
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I got this build to run a fruity OS, so I really really don't want to start from scratch on the second OS.

Well, this being a workstation motherboard, I don't think the manufacturer could be blamed for not providing drivers for a server OS. Apart from that, Win7 64-Bit drivers might work.
- try updating chipset drivers first, you can get that package directly from Intel - after that, new devices or device classes may show up
- your unknown device is most probably BlueTooth

let me detail the steps and errors I'm getting.
If I attempt to start AsusSetup manually I get the following:
"Does not support this Operating System : WNT_6.0I_64"
regardless of whether or not I make compatibility changes or run as administrator.
In device manager I have a yellow ! next to the PCI Simple Communications Controller
I
* right click on device
* select "Update driver software"
* choose "Browse my computer for driver software" and then "Search for driver software ..."
* click Browse and select the ASUS CD\Drivers , select "Include subfolders", then click Next
* after a moment of searching? I get the following:
"Windows was unable to install your PCI Simple Communications Controller
Windows could not find driver software for your device. ..."
This is the exact same message I get when choosing to automatically update the driver software *and* when I use F8 to manually disable "digitaldriver enforcement"
the other devices with issues respond the same

I've updated my sig to contain my system specifications.
These are the devices I can not install using the ASUS P8P67 motherboard CD:
PCI Simple COmmunications Controller
SM Bus Controller
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
Unknown device
I do have LAN working (Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller), whose driver installed from the ASUS mobo CD when prompted by WHS.

Sorry, no dodgy stuff going on. My WHS 2011 copy is OEM, from New Egg. I'm referring to OS-X (purchased from Apple) I installed on this hardware. I'm not going to elaborate, but *that* installation required some very complicated *Hacking* to work.
I was just pointing out that if it can be done there, I'm not sure why ASUS hasn't cracked the WHS nut yet.
I will come back and fill in the specific hardware errors.
Loosely it's the PCI controller and USB 3.0.

Without specific info on what device has the error all we can offer is some help with Google

Not sure what you mean by this.
If you mean an OEM copy for a HP or Asus Server that you are trying to install onto the ASUA MB, then you'll have problems and the above link may help.
If on the other hand, its a dodgy/ torrent or illegal copy you are talking about, your probably not in the best place for support. |
