Posted - 04/04/2012 : 2:46:35 PM Not sure if Mark created a Server 8 Forum, so I'm asking here.
Installed Server 8 and made it a DC. In the Metro interface the AD tiles were automagicly added. I found if I R-click on a tile I can Pin to taskbar.
On Server 2 I installed a AD-DS role adding it to the existing Domain. Looking in Server Manager/Tools I see all of the AD tool. My goal is to pin ADUC to taskbar. I was expecting to see the AD utilities on the Metro Start screen, but they are not there on DC2. (Strange)
Anyone know why when adding the AD-DS role the Metro AD tiles were not created? How does one pin ADUC to the taskbar? Now that AD-DS has been installed how does one add the Metro AD tiles?
Thanks, Doug |

Posted - 04/11/2012 : 1:06:34 PM Wondering aloud also. Why would moving FSMO roles affect what stays pinned to a desktop? But then again this is Microsoft. So maybe you are right.

Posted - 04/11/2012 : 02:20:17 AM I'll revert to my first post and mention that vSphere keeps getting unpinned for some reason.
Wondering aloud, what happens if you move FSMO roles? |

Posted - 04/10/2012 : 10:17:15 PM Yup that did it. OK now drink the other half and see if you can find the answer to this one. Why were the tiles created when I created the first DC but not when I created the second or third DC? |

Posted - 04/10/2012 : 8:05:56 PM Dougg,
I'd love to say it has all being easy, but no. This may be a "feature" but vSphere Client keeps disappearing on me, from 2 machines and I'm still trying to see through the triple glazed glass to protect my monitors from flying wireless mice for some reason.
Maybe some more will leak about shortcuts, mouse cuts and all the rest.
this is the start of some of the info that didn't make it to the help files http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dorischen/archive/2012/04/05/windows-8-cheat-sheet-get-started-easily.aspx
