Posted - 04/02/2012 : 2:41:51 PM We are deploying Windows 7 across our network and noticed a bug regarding Office 2003. This is only affecting office 2003 and not office 2010. All our users have folder redirection enabled for the My Documents and Desktop. When we try to open a file by Clicking file open from within a office 2003 application and select the drop down it tries to load all the systems on the network as you were browsing my network places. This does not happen on the XP machines or the Windows 7 Machines with Office 2010. I have tried to disable network browsing however I could not seem to disable it fully. Any ideas how I can stop office from browsing the whole network when I drop down the open dialog box? |

Posted - 04/02/2012 : 7:35:44 PM FYI: I found this during my search, and so far it seems to be working. There is a registry entry you can create to disable this. The also prevents the network places from working however this is not needed for our users, all drives are mapped. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\NonEnum] "{F02C1A0D-BE21-4350-88B0-7367FC96EF3C}"=dword:00000001 You can still access network shares etc.

Posted - 04/02/2012 : 6:11:07 PM Thanks, but that refers to opening of a workbook this happens prior to opening the document. Basically Office 2003 is browsing the whole network and returning all the computers on the dropdown instead of showing only the local system. So each user has to wait until the entire network devices are shown before it allows them to navigate the folder structures. |
