Here's a question.

Is the going to be just major forum members or are we encouraging forum members to bring others to the meeting?

We talked about that at the first one and I don't remember what was decided.

Hi,
Personally, I think that introducing others is a good idea. After all we are al trying to help people by posting on the forums and introducing others can only be a good thing.

On a different matter, would anyone else be up for a wives/partners sub forum.

Hopefully, you'll let little people, come along. The prospect of being around and listening to some incredibly wise people about a subject I love is always an education all by itself, let alone hearing about all the new stuff comming down the line in a way I can understand and not comming from an employee of the proposing company is just too good an opportunity in my eyes to miss.

So please......'Let me in....'

Joe.

I'm not trying to make policy. I just figured all forum members are welcome. Well, almost all of them. 99.999999 percent perhaps.

As for the wives, I think it would be cool if our wives could tell us how they view us when we get "all Geeky" sometimes.

I'm in there already....you think I'd miss this even if you told me I couldn't come! My only reason for not being a definate is becasue I'm away from my family during the week right now my wife has said 'you can go as long we we ( my wife and daughter) can cope with being away from you for 4 to 6 months. If we can't we either all go or none!'

I haven't told my boss yet, but he told me today that I'm migrating 2 NT4 and 1 Exchange 5.5 to 2003 and there are 6 servers to be left in situ as well as the 2 migrated servers this friday! So I recon I'll be intitled to it!

Joe

PS, folks is this possible? To do it with 2 - 3 days prep? Clean, well looked after NT4 domain, but 30Gb Exchange database and approx 45Gb of data on main NT4 box. 3 Legasey NT4 boxes, 2 with an old SAP application, 1 with old printer drivers. Another 2 new 2003 SAP App servers, 1 2003 File server, 1 NT4 File Server and they also want the 2 migrating servers left in place for a while as they also host some other printer drivers and other really old (legasy) stuff?

I'll post this also with more detail in another section.

Joe

I know my wife enjoyed the trip last year. She enjoyed meeting everyone and did mention how things did get "geeky" She won't be able to come along this year as it's the same weekend as the boy's track conference meet and she is the head coach of a boy's track team.

Just to let people know, I was speaking to Anne Grubb from Penton (Windows IT Pro).
I suggested that perhaps she might like to come along to a day or more of the event as if nothing else it would be a great chance to meet up with a number of people who have written for the magazine.
Part of her reply was as follows:
quote:

Could be a good opportunity to extend our (the Windows IT Pro community's) reach into another, very successful, IT pro community and see what we have to offer each other.

So, we shall see. I think it would be great and would certainly help spread word of all the good work this forum and its members are doing. Who knows, it might just help Mark sell a few more book??

Cheers
Nathan

Absolutely!
Given how much the shipping cost getting mine to the UK I will certainly be buying next year in the US!

Another thing, I have just got a livemeeting account from MS to help supporting the user group I am running (see signature). This is the technology that MS use a lot to put their Technet webcasts together.
Maybe we should look into it for next year to broaden the participation. Does have to be video, can just be audio and slides.
What do you guys think?
Cheers
Nathan

Personally I wouldn't permit broadcasting my presentations. With all respect, folks, I make my living DOING those things and I can't do that if we're giving it away. Apologies, I hope you understand.

Let's just make sure that Lammle doesn't bring along an access point with beta firmware again

Toombs, with nearly nine month's notice and living a mere 3.5 hours' drive away, you've GOTTA come!

Can't promise about Lammle and the routers, though...

Are we gonna need equipment? switches, wireless, etc? I've got a couple of Cisco 1230's and probably a 24 port switch...no routers though. I could bring...well, start naming what we need - projector? What else?

Paper cups and string. Packets move very slowly through them, easy to trace.

I would suggest RFC 2549 - avian carrier, but I am not sure what the meeting room policy is on pets. ;)

Thanks,
