also Windows update is not accessable. Other webpages are fine.

Error I get is "A file that is required for Search Companion cannot be found. You may need to run setup". Did that and it did not help.

Found a few things on the web in regards to this, but nothing that has helped.

Issue resolved. I started poking more around the system to see if other things were broke after coming across a few other possible fixes and in this link http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/MMC-Cannot-Open-file-t97798.html&st=15 near the end of the thread gerryf provided the fix.

Registering the MSXML files did the trick.

In addition to Search not working I found that I was unable to open Microsoft's Windows update site, as well as GPEDIT.MSC Not sure what other issues I would have run into, but I'm damn glad I did not have to re-image the system since it is only about a month into being a fresh install.
