Last week Friday there was a company wide message sent out from our HR Admin. The message was legit and in the body of the message all was legit and the signature of the email was also HR Admins.
Everybody received that message no issue ..... here is the issue ....
The message showed up on all the users FROM ME, in the senders field it had my email address and name . Never seen this before, I am the Manager of this Companywide DL. After this issue I have removed myself as the Manager of this DL for now. I never sent this message.
What could have caused this ...not a permissions issue, I have checked that? I am not sure where to start looking?
Advise Please.
Thank you

I ran message tracking on myself and that HRAdmin ..and it shows the message was sent from me and her on the same time and date.
The headers show her name and email and mines too.
When this message was sent out on Friday I received lots of Out of Office Response.... |

Sounds like she used the Send On Behalf - From option.
See if she "can" do this from her PC
Create an e-mail message on behalf of another person
On the File menu, point to New, and then click Mail Message. Keyboard shortcut To create a new e-mail message, press CTRL+SHIFT+M.
In the From box, type the name of the person you are sending the message on behalf of.
To select the name from a list in the Address Book, click From.
If you do not see the From button and box, on the Options tab, in the Fields group, click Show From.
Add recipients, a subject, and the contents of the message as you normally do.
Click Send. |

Thank you Tim for your input.
I did that already and she has no permissions to send on my behalf.

Are you a manager of any other distro lists? Perhaps it would be worth testing whether this is repeatable? (but on a smaller scale!) |

Thanks Nathan for your response.
That HR Lady sent company wide message to 2 DLs. I was the Manager of 1 DL and this other Lady is the Manager of the other DL. Strange is that the email showed from me and it did not carry the other lady's name tho she is the Manager of the second DL. |
