I was just reading a post on a Danish forum about a problem where Windows Server 2008 R2, is very likely to bluescreen if it is run on HP hardware with Intel Virtualization and No-Execute enabled and you enable the Hyper-V role. He has tested it on the following models ((BL460c G1 and DL380G6). HP has let him know there is an internal HP document, stating that this is a known problem.
The fix he has found so far is disable Intel Core C3 State option in the BIOS.
I just thought it was worth posting here as well, if someone was going to run into the same problem.

Do you know if the servers were running the 8.30 Proliant Support Pack? That's the first one with R2 support. |

Thanks i do run Windows 2008 R2 on my HP ServerMl150G5 with Hyper-V so far i havent seen BSOD lets hope i wont ;) |
The Only Real Benefit from having msn.com and microsoft.com in the forest instead of msn.microsoft.com is how it all looks on a Powershell Presenation . |

Hello, what was the BSOD about you had? I have a similar problem with a customer of us.
A 3-node W2K8 R2 Hyper-V cluster with PSP 8.30 on BL490 G6 servers. All the latest fw and drives are installed. VC Flex-10 upgrade to v2.12 last week. The nodes are crashing with the same BSOD, but not on the same time. The fix mentioned in this post is not implemented yet.

There's issues with Flex 10 and Windows Server 2008 R2, independent of Hyper-V. A "neighbour" of yours in Netherlands will have more info: http://hyper-v.nu/members/jvrede/default.aspx
The problem is that HP haven't released all the drivers for R2 yet. AFAIK, Flex10 drivers will be out soon.
EDIT:
Oops, I just checked a message that Hans sent me on the subject. He reckoned 2.12 would fix it. I'd call HP support if I were you. |

A support case is already created.
I was just wondering what the bugcheck of the blue screen was.
In my case is it Blue Screen Trap (BugCheck, STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x0000000000000018, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFF88001868096)) on evbda.sys. |

A small world indeed!
We registered a support call with HP in NL but they said they could not elevate call because R2 will not be supported until October 22nd. Very helpful response :-)
Registered a call with MS and they were very cooperative!
For the time being we attribute the problem to Core Parking and the inability of R2 to cope with a situation of low kernel-power. We turned off C-State in the server's BIOS. It could even be a flaw in the processor which must be patched in a future System BIOS update. The reference to the driver was to a Broadcom 10Gb Ethernet driver in the BL490c servers.
Finally we also switched the Advanced Power settings in control panel to High Performance from Balanced. This guarantees that the cpu will always run at 100%.
Let's now hope the servers in the cluster all stay cool! |

To eleborate on this. Just got confirmation from HP in US that Windows Server 2008 R2 is formally supported. The Dutch HP support organization however were not informed about that yet. According to my sources it is a known problem for which Microsoft seems to have an unreleased QFE. If I hear more, I will report it over here.

| Servers don't crash since we disabled Core Parking (disabled c-states in BIOS) and changed power config from Balanced to High Performance. So far both MS and HP support calls is still open. We don't see this with BL460c blades, only with BL490c blades. Possible a bug in the cpu? |
