Is anyone aware of a Freeware utility that will ping all systems on a given network, log the results of those pings and look for a MAC address to determine if it's been assigned? New to this job, I am in a 100% Static environment and lacking such a utility I will have to manually visit ~150 systems.

The existing list of assigned IP's appears to be significantly out of date hence the need to find out what is in use and what is not.

Thanks.

Depends on what policies are in place where you work. Not sure on MAC addresses. I cannot use them where I currently am so I am not able to verify.

Ping-Them is nice

Angry IP

And of course NMAP but again depends on policies.

Edit - Solar Winds has some free tools that may help you as well.

No problem here, just do a mass-ping and then
arp -a > mac_addresses.txt
