Does anyone know if it is possible to uninstall and reinstall SharePoint from a SBS 2011 environment?
The client I am working for has a been learning/testing SP and has now deleted various data, forms, settings etc. I tried following the MS SBS Repair Guides I found on their website but these didn't help.
As the client had no data of any great value on the SP system they don't mind if it lost.
Therefore, I'm thinking of uninstalling SP and then reinstalling it again in order to a clean system.
SharePoint doesn't always uninstall all that cleanly, and putting it back on the same box may be more headache than it's worth. If you want to continue working with SharePoint in some fashion and you aren't actually getting loads of page errors on things you're trying to do, then all you really need to do to "clean" the SharePoint environment up is to delete your site collections and create new ones. Or if you want to go really clean, then delete the site collections then delete the web applications, and re-issue them.
But if you're encountering a lot of errors and actual problems with SharePoint working, then an uninstall\reinstall COULD fix them - or you COULD end up seeing them all again after you get it reinstalled.
Yes you can uninstall and reinstall but the issue arises with SBS integration. You need to get things like the app pool names EXACTLY correct for the integration with the SBS 2011 console to work correctly. There are also plenty of other 'unique' SBS components that need to be appropriately configured.
So it is possible but under SBS a SharePoint reinstall is a tricky beast. Microsoft documentation should take you through the process but I have found that it skips many of the important steps. Unfortunately, I Know of no free documentation that takes you through the process step by step.
I would suggest you post a question in the Microsoft Partner support forums to see if anybody can point you to some free documentation.
