Trying to setup NLB between these 2 servers. Using Unicast.
I added the NLB feature and through the NLB Manager I add the Node A and when I try to add/connect to Node B ..It cannot find it. I cannot even ping it which I guess is normal because of unicast mode. I have a cross over cable on the second NIC of each server between both the nodes.
And if I turn both nodes to Multicast then I can add the nodes to the NLB Manager Console but then I am not able to access the Virtual IP from the LAN and the website does not come up. I cannot even ping the VIP from LAN.
I would like to have Unicast setup and able to add the nodes via the NLB Manager. I have no issue setting this up on Windows 2003. This is my first NLB on Windows 2008R2.
Thanks for the link. I was reading through it and came across ...
If you want to use NLB Unicast mode, ensure that: All members of the NLB cluster must be running on the same ESX host.
If all the nodes are on the same ESX Host and the host goes down for some reason ... it takes all the nodes down ... doesnt this defeat the purpose of having an NLB?
This is probably not helpful at all, but getting NLB to work on H-V (with each VM on different host) is apparently less problematic - just need to enable MAC spoofing.
