I am pretty sure there isn't but just want to be sure..

We have a bunch of shared mailboxes, which customers for some reason have started to send emails marked as "private" to, meaning that they are not showing up, even though people are given full permissions to the mailbox.

Is there any way server side to grant people the right to read mails marked as private ?

You can change that in the Delegate settings of the shared mailbox: http://www.msoutlook.info/question/438

Yes.. But can I do it on the server side as well ?
I would prefer not having to enable x mailbox accounts and logon with them to configure a setting in Outlook.

Okay, that was way more complex than I expected. :)

Apperantly you can set the ViewPrivateItems property by using EWS and not in EMS. Have a look at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/da-DK/winserverpowershell/thread/c62662e0-4b81-4489-be0d-1e4eb794f65b
