I don't know much about this kit. The lenses are not the fastest, but might be enough for your needs. Not good for sports or fast moving subjects in low light. But for most other stuff should be good enough!

Yeah, I'm just a n00b wanting a nicer camera than the Panasonic Lumix I had that had 12x zoom. It wasn't even an SLR, but I thought this would be a reasonable replacement. I know we talked about that G12 or whatever in VB, but I think I need more zoom than that camera has (G12)...

That should get you going and if you like it, you can always add better glass later on. Aidan might know about this model cam than I, so wait to hear his input.

I ended up going with the Canon EOS Rebel T3i. I bit more money, but my wife wanted me to have the better camera. So far I love it!
