Yesterday I added the Backup to a server, I noticed it took a long to to install, but it did state completed OK. I left this on the screen as it was end of day. This morning no one could connect to the server, when I checked it was locked/hung at screen saver. Forced power off and restart, it would hang before going to windows. I could go into raid control, all drives were on-line. I had a external USB hd connected for backup, so I removed it and try again, hangs same place. Shut down remove raid card, boot to error of no hd found. I was thinking boot file bad? Insert raid card, boot to "windows shut down in correct" I pick boot normal and it did!
Shut down, connect USB drive and reboot, all came up correct.
Did adding the Backup feature/role cause something?
I have not opened the Backup to setup yet, just wondering has anyone seen this?
Thanks
Michael

You mean Installing WSB Future from Server 2008? If Yes i always use this Backup Future for my Clients and never had Similar Problem. You should Check Event Viewer for Error Logs First.

I would almost tend to think it's coincidental.

Unless Windows backup adds drivers (or something like that) that conflicts with your disk controllers.

Is everything OK now? Can you restart the server normally? Can you run a backup?
