We have a W2K8R2 active directory with a backup DC and W7 clients. I created and linked a group policy object to an OU that that contains a preferences entry that writes a registry entry to increase the Outlook 2010 file attachment size. The location the entry is supposed to be written is HKCU\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OFFICE\14.0\OUTLOOK\PREFERENCES

The registry entry is not being written to the clients registry whether the entry is set to Update or Write and have set it to Run in logged-on user's security context. I have also run Gpupdate with the /Force switch as well.

There is no place else in the other policy objects that overrides this setting so.. I'm lost...

Jon, can you run "gpresult /R" to see if the policy is applied at all?

the only applied result being displayed on the DC when i run gpresult /r is the default domain policy and the default domain controller policy. the only other result shows the local group policy. it's odd because i have 4 other policies that are all working as advertised or appear to be working.

You need to run gpresult on the client

And make sure to run elevated.

yeah.. hmmm, not sure what i was thinking when i wrote that last one. it didn't show up as being applied so... i deleted the policy, re-created it using a different name and moved it to the number 1 loading position instead of the highest number 5. it all works now and i really don't see much difference in how i created and applied the policy. another one to make you scratch your head...
