Hi all,
Just a quick question - if you wanted to use the Remote Call Control features of Lync which Lync CALs would you need to purchase?
We want to use a different VOIP solution to handle call traffic, but want to use Lync as the front end client. We have the Standard CALs, but there is some discussion as to what else is required.
Can anyone help?

| RCC is an ugly solution that Microsoft won't be supporting moving forward. It is difficult to configure and is not nearly as seemless as using Lync by itself. I would very much recommend against using it if at all possible. |

We will only be using it for the next few months until we perform a system upgrade. Then we will be moving onto a different software phone.
Just needed as an interim solution! |

| Are you planning on using Lync in the future as your phone system? RCC is one way to transition but there are other ways... |

| No, we plan to use another phone system, but the softphone for that system isn't supported on Windows XP. So, the plan is (hopefully) to use the Lync client until we get our desktops upgraded and offload the calls onto the other system using RCC. Then, once we are upgraded, move back to using the other phone system's softphone! |

So silly question, but if you are buying Lync licenses for RCC then why not use Lync voice instead? Cheers Nathan |
