I have been working on setting up a new configuration manager 2012 environment, and I have most recently run into a problem with my network access account losing its configured password.
I navigate to "Administration > Site Configuration > Sites" and select "Configure Site Components > Software Distribution", switch to the "Network Access Account" tab and click "Specify the account that access network locations > Set > New Account". I then enter the info for my existing AD user set up for this purpose, with its correct password. I am then able to enter my network path into the Verify section and test the connection I receive the message "The connection was successfully verified".
I discovered this issue by simulating a deployment and having it fail with the error "The source directory "\\server\share\Adobe\Flash Player\Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.257" for package "SITECODE00007" does not exist. The operating system reported error 5: Access is denied." I am able to verify that the account can access the share by logging in and connecting to it, so it does not appear to be an access issue.
A stranger issue occurs when I go back to the Administration workspace and look at my network access account. I open it up and click the set button again (within the general tab). In the "User Account" popup when I click "Test Connection", I receive the error "The specified network password is not correct. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070056)".
I can change the password and test it succesfully, but as soon as I hit okay and go back in I receive an error again.
Any suggestions as to what could cause this? Is there a helpful log file on the server that will show me what could be causing this?
I searched Google & only found 2 things that might help. Both of them seem to be long shots. The first one is to look at the event viewer for an event ID.
